Trusted HVAC Service in Burlington, Since 1999

Burlington homeowners choose Megacity HVAC for premium heating and cooling service. From Aldershot to Appleby, Downtown Burlington to Tyandaga — our licensed technicians deliver expert HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance. We specialize in high-efficiency systems that keep Burlington families comfortable year-round while minimizing energy costs. Burlington is a mature, affluent lakefront city with a well-maintained housing stock ranging from 1950s–60s ranch homes and bungalows in Aldershot and the Plains Road corridor to upscale executive homes in Millcroft and Headon Forest. Our technicians have deep experience with Burlington's diverse residential properties and understand the specific heating and cooling needs that come with each era of construction.

Burlington's southern neighbourhoods — Aldershot, Roseland, and the downtown core — feature 1940s–60s bungalows, wartime homes, and mid-century ranches, many still running on original ductwork and aging furnaces. The Tyandaga, Headon Forest, and Millcroft communities were developed in the 1980s–2000s with larger two-storey and executive homes that often need multi-zone systems for even comfort. Burlington's proximity to the Niagara Escarpment means homes on the mountain brow face unique conditions — higher wind exposure and cooler temperatures in winter, but excellent summer ventilation.

Burlington's HVAC work sorts by how far you are from the water and how close you are to the escarpment brow. Aldershot, Roseland and the streets south of the QEW toward New Street are 1940s through 1960s bungalows and ranches, many with their original duct layout and equipment that has been swapped once. Brant Hills, Tyandaga and Headon Forest went up in the 1970s and 1980s. Millcroft, the Orchard and Alton Village are 1990s and 2000s builds north of Dundas Street, larger and taller, where a single-zone system was rarely enough for the finished house.

Burlington benefits from Lake Ontario's moderating influence on the lakefront, but homes near the Escarpment and in northern Burlington experience colder, windier conditions. The city's humid summers — amplified by lake proximity — make properly sized central air conditioning and good indoor humidity control essential from June through September.

Diagnostics

Common HVAC Issues in Burlington

Most are resolved same-day with parts we carry on our trucks.

Ranch Bungalows on Original Duct Layouts

Aldershot and Roseland houses were built with low, wide duct runs sized for a mid-efficiency furnace. Modern equipment moves more air than those runs were meant to carry.

Wind Exposure Along the Escarpment Brow

Houses on the higher ground toward the brow take more wind than the lakefront streets. Heat loss climbs and furnaces cycle longer through a cold snap.

Alton Village Homes on a Single Zone

The newer builds north of Dundas are tall with finished basements. One thermostat on the main floor cannot describe what the other two levels are doing.

Sticky Summers Close to the Water

South Burlington humidity stays high through July and August. Oversized cooling makes it worse by cutting run time before moisture is removed.

Attic Ductwork in 1980s Two-Storeys

Runs through unconditioned attic space in the Tyandaga and Headon Forest era lose real capacity unless the insulation and sealing are intact.

Old Air Conditioners Still on R-22

Units from before the phase-out are expensive to recharge and no longer economic to repair. A leak on one of those is a replacement conversation, not a top-up.

Common Questions

HVAC FAQ — Burlington

No. Installations and replacements are booked in advance, so the fifty-five kilometre drive changes nothing about the job or the price. Emergency response is where distance matters. If your priority is a technician at the door within the hour on a January night, a Burlington or Hamilton company will serve you better, and we would say so on the phone.

Often, but it needs checking rather than assuming. Postwar duct systems were sized for lower airflow. We measure static pressure before quoting, and if the trunk or the returns need work, that goes in the quote. Installing a high-efficiency furnace on ducts that cannot carry the air produces a noisy system and an unhappy customer, which helps nobody.

It changes sizing and staging. More wind exposure means more heat loss, which favours a two-stage or modulating furnace running longer at lower output rather than a single-stage unit cycling hard. We size from a load calculation on the actual house, including exposure, not from a square-footage rule of thumb.

Almost never, once it is leaking. R-22 has been phased out, the remaining supply is expensive, and a recharge on a leaking system is money spent on refrigerant that will escape again. If the unit is that old the compressor is near the end regardless. We will tell you the repair price and the replacement price and let you decide with both numbers in front of you.
