Sizing matters more in Mississauga than in most of the GTA, because the humidity coming off the lake is what people actually feel. South of the QEW, in Port Credit, Lorne Park and Clarkson, an oversized air conditioner cools the air quickly, shuts down before it has removed any moisture, and leaves the house cold and damp. Further north, Erin Mills, Meadowvale and Churchill Meadows are drier but taller, so the question becomes whether one system can hold three levels. Our house cools fine but always feels damp. Will a new AC fix it?
Yes, if the new one is sized correctly, and no if it is sized the way the old one was. Damp-but-cool is the signature of an oversized air conditioner. It hits the thermostat setpoint in a short cycle and stops before it has dehumidified anything. Right-sizing on replacement is the fix, which is why we calculate rather than match whatever is currently on the pad.
What does AC installation cost in Mississauga?
Central air is $3,500 to $5,500 depending on capacity, efficiency and any duct modifications. Ductless starts near $3,000 for a single zone. Larger Lorne Park and Erin Mills homes tend toward the upper end or need two systems. Phone quotes are free, the written quote comes before any work starts, and we itemise duct or electrical work rather than folding it into a single number.
Can you install cooling in an older Port Credit house with no ducts?
Yes, usually with ductless. One outdoor unit feeds wall heads in the rooms that matter, and it heats as well as cools. Retrofitting ducts through a finished older house is disruptive and expensive, and in most of those homes it is not the better value even before you count the plaster repair.
Do you service condo fan coils near Square One?
We work on equipment the owner owns, which includes in-suite fan coils, their filters, drain pans and condensate lines. Risers, boilers and cooling towers belong to the corporation. If the fault turns out to be building-side we will tell you so you can take it to property management instead of paying us to chase it.
Does a new air conditioner qualify for a rebate?
In-house rebates available. Ask at your quote. We don't file government rebate paperwork for customers. Ontario's Home Renovation Savings Program does not cover a standalone air conditioner; it covers cold-climate heat pumps, which give you cooling and heating in one system. Enbridge Sustain lease-to-own with $0 down is available on qualifying equipment.
