Markham Furnace Repair
Markham Furnaces, Both Sides of Highway 7
Highway 7 is roughly where the housing changes. Below it, Milliken, Markham Village and the Thornhill side are mostly 1970s and 1980s two-storeys and side-splits, many on their second or third furnace. North and east, Cornell, Berczy Village, Cathedraltown and Angus Glen went up from the late 1990s on, so plenty of those houses still run the furnace the builder put in, and it is reaching the age where parts start to go.
We are not a Markham shop. We come up from 885 O'Connor Dr in East York, and Markham is inside our regular service area. The trucks carry the parts that fail most often, including ignitors, flame sensors, inducer motors and control boards, so most repairs finish on the first visit rather than after a parts run.

Diagnostics
What We Find in Markham Furnaces

Clicks, Then Nothing
The inducer runs, the furnace tries to light and gives up. A cracked hot-surface ignitor or a dirty flame sensor is the usual cause, and both are on the truck.
Lights, Then Shuts Off
Burners fire for a few seconds and cut out. Most often that is a flame sensor coated in residue. Less often it is a weak ground or a failing gas valve.
Noisy Inducer Motor
Builder furnaces from the late 1990s and 2000s are at the age where inducer bearings go. The noise tends to get worse until the motor stops.
Blinking Error Code
The control board light is telling you what tripped. We read the code, test the part it points to, and only replace the board when the board is the fault.
Third Floor Never Warms Up
Big Cornell and Berczy Village houses often run three finished levels on one thermostat. It can be airflow, a filter, or the layout. We tell you which before suggesting anything.
Retrofit Ducts, Weak Airflow
In older Milliken and Markham Village side-splits, ductwork has been changed over the years. Restricted return air can trip the high-limit switch and shut the furnace off.
Smell gas? Leave the house first, then call 911 and Enbridge at 1-866-763-5427. A carbon monoxide alarm going off is also a 911 call, not a furnace repair call. Once the house is cleared, we can come and find the cause.

Are you a Markham company?
No. We serve Markham from our shop at 885 O'Connor Dr in East York. Depending on where you are, that is a run up the DVP and the 404, or up Kennedy or Warden. Markham is inside our regular service area and we book same-day repairs there when the schedule allows. We give you an arrival window when you call, not a minute promise.
Do you answer at night and on weekends?
Yes. The phone is answered 24/7. Overnight calls carry an overnight rate, quoted on the phone before we come. If a furnace quits on a January night, call and we will tell you honestly when a technician can be there.
Which parts of Markham do you cover?
All of it: Unionville, Markham Village, Milliken, Thornhill east of Yonge, Buttonville, Berczy Village, Cornell, Cathedraltown, Angus Glen, Box Grove and Wismer. The south end is closer to us, but the whole city is on our regular route.
Our Cornell house still has the builder furnace. Repair or replace?
If the furnace is in decent shape and the fault is an ignitor, flame sensor or inducer, repair is usually the sensible call. If the heat exchanger is cracked or it keeps breaking down, replacement starts to make more sense. We tell you which it is, in writing. For a replacement, the in-home estimate is free.
Can I spread the cost of a new furnace?
Yes. We are an Enbridge Sustain Trusted Partner, so we can install a new furnace with $0 down through the Sustain lease-to-own program. Maintenance and repairs are included in the monthly payment, and the furnace is yours once the term ends and the final buyout amount is paid. Standard gas furnaces are not covered by current government rebate programs.
