We cover it ourselves. Pickering is about thirty kilometres east along the 401 from our East York shop, which puts it inside our normal service area. You get an arrival window when you book, and if a same-day emergency slot genuinely is not available we will say that instead of stringing you along.
This is the case where it makes the most sense. Propane costs considerably more per unit of heat than natural gas, so a cold-climate heat pump doing most of the season's heating changes the bill in a way it would not on gas. We keep the existing furnace as backup for the coldest nights.
Usually because the air conditioner is too large for the house. It cools the air quickly, shuts off, and never runs long enough to pull moisture out. Close to the lake that shows up faster than it does inland. Correct sizing on the next replacement is the real fix; a slower fan speed and a standalone dehumidifier help in the meantime.
Split levels almost always need a return on the bedroom level, and a lot of them were built without one. Air goes in but has no clean path back to the furnace, so it short-circuits through the hallway. Adding a return and rebalancing the supply runs usually solves it without touching the equipment.
