Lennox ML14KC1 — FAQ
How efficient is the Lennox ML14KC1, and is that enough for Toronto?
It meets or exceeds 14.3 SEER2, which clears the current minimum efficiency requirement for a new central AC install in our region. It's a solid mainstream rating for a single-stage unit. If you run the AC heavily all summer and want lower bills or quieter operation, a higher-SEER variable-capacity model may pay back better, and we'll walk you through the trade-off before you commit.
What size ML14KC1 does my home need?
The ML14KC1 comes in 2 to 5 tons, which covers most Toronto homes. The right size depends on your square footage, insulation, windows, and ductwork, not just floor area. Oversizing makes a single-stage AC short-cycle and cool unevenly, so we run a proper load calculation on site rather than matching the tonnage of your old unit by default.
Does this air conditioner qualify for a government rebate?
No. Standard central air conditioners like the ML14KC1 are not covered by Ontario's current home efficiency rebates, which are reserved for heat pumps and heat-pump water heaters. If lowering your energy costs and capturing a rebate matters to you, ask us about a heat pump instead, where the rebate is applied for through a program-registered contractor.
How long does installation take and what's involved?
A straightforward AC changeout is usually a one-day job. We remove the old condenser, set and level the new ML14KC1, make the refrigerant and electrical connections, evacuate and charge the system on R-454B, and test it before we leave. If your line set, electrical, or pad needs work, we'll flag that during the in-home assessment so there are no surprises on install day.
