Air Conditioning Repair Across Vaughan, Done Right Since 1999
Vaughan has transformed over the last 27 years from a semi-rural community into one of the GTA's largest cities, with over 340,000 residents. Woodbridge, Maple, Thornhill, Kleinburg, and Vellore Village all have distinct housing stock, from century homes in Kleinburg's old village to 5,000 sq ft custom estates in Patterson and the condo towers at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. Every type needs a different AC approach.
Megacity HVAC has serviced Vaughan for over 27 years. Many Woodbridge and Thornhill homes built in the 1970s and 1980s have first or second-generation central AC systems that are at end-of-life now. Newer Maple and Vellore Village subdivisions from the late 1990s and early 2000s are hitting the 20-year mark where replacement is typically cheaper than continued repairs.
Vaughan covers a lot of ground and the housing is not consistent from one corner to the next. Woodbridge holds the oldest stock, much of it rebuilt or added onto, which means a modern furnace and coil often sit on top of much older ductwork. Maple and Vellore Village are late-1990s and early-2000s subdivisions running their original equipment. Kleinburg has properties off the natural gas grid where the heating is propane or oil, and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre adds condo units where the split system is the owner's and the building system is not.

AC Problems We Fix Every Day in Vaughan

New Equipment on Old Woodbridge Ducts
A rebuilt or extended house often kept the original trunk line. The air conditioner is capable, the distribution is not, and the addition stays warm.
Balancing or duct work
Original Equipment Reaching End of Life
Maple and Vellore Village condensers installed with the house are now old enough that a fault is usually a symptom of age rather than a one-off.
$150 - $600
Condenser Boxed In by Fencing
Narrow side yards off Rutherford and Major Mackenzie trap discharge air. The unit re-ingests its own heat and runs hot through the afternoon.
$150 - $400
Two-Storey Foyer Pulling Cool Air Away
Tall entries in Patterson and Sonoma Heights let conditioned air stratify. The hallway is comfortable, the living space is not.
Balancing or duct work
Return Duct Sharing Space With a Garage
A return that runs beside an attached garage can draw in fumes. It is a sealing job, not an air conditioner fault, but it presents as a smell when the system runs.
$150 - $450
Compressor Faults on Older Units
Once an older condenser starts tripping on start-up, the hard-start components and the compressor windings both need testing before anyone quotes parts.
$300 - $600

Common Questions
AC Repair Vaughan: FAQ
How much does AC repair cost in Vaughan?
Between $150 and $600 for the large majority of calls. Electrical components such as capacitors and contactors are the cheap end. Refrigerant leaks, evaporator coils and compressor work are the expensive end. We give you a fixed price after diagnosis, and the diagnostic fee is credited to the repair if you proceed.
Our Kleinburg property runs on propane. Does that change the cooling side?
Not the air conditioner itself, but it changes what makes sense at replacement time. Propane heat is expensive enough that swapping a dying air conditioner for a cold-climate heat pump often pays for itself, because the same box then does most of your heating too.
The outdoor unit is jammed into a narrow side yard. Does that matter?
Yes, more than most people expect. A condenser rejects heat by moving a large volume of air, and fencing or shrubs close on three sides means it pulls its own hot discharge back in. Head pressure rises, capacity falls, and the compressor wears faster. Clearance and airflow are worth fixing before spending money on parts.
Can you service air conditioning in a Vaughan Metropolitan Centre condo?
We service equipment the suite owner owns, which covers split systems and ductless heads. Many of the newer towers run a building-wide system maintained by the corporation, and we cannot work on that. Tell us the building and what the unit looks like and we can usually sort out whose equipment it is before booking a visit.
Our house is large and one air conditioner cannot keep up. What are the options?
Bigger is not automatically the answer. On larger homes the choice is usually between properly zoning what is there, or running two smaller matched systems rather than one oversized one. Two systems cost more up front and hold temperature far better across floors. We size from a load calculation on the actual house before recommending either.
