Whitby Furnace Repair
Whitby Furnaces, From Harbour Heritage Homes to New Brooklin Builds
Rossland Road is a fair dividing line for Whitby furnaces. Below it, downtown, Port Whitby and Lynde Creek have the older houses, some from the late 1800s with stone foundations and heating that has been converted more than once. Pringle Creek, Williamsburg and Rolling Acres are mostly 1960s to 1990s suburban. North of that, Brooklin has grown from a village into a large subdivision since the mid-2000s, and a lot of those builder-installed furnaces are now old enough to start failing.
We are not a Whitby shop. We drive out from 885 O'Connor Dr in East York, about 45 kilometres along the 401, and Whitby is inside our regular service area. The trucks carry the parts that fail most often, including ignitors, flame sensors, inducer motors and control boards, so most repairs finish on the first visit instead of a second trip down the 401.

What We Find in Whitby Furnaces

Clicks, Then Nothing
The inducer starts, the furnace tries to light and gives up. A cracked hot-surface ignitor or a dirty flame sensor is the usual cause. Both are parts we carry.
Lights, Then Shuts Off
Burners fire for a few seconds and cut out. Most often it is a flame sensor coated in residue. Less often it is a weak ground or a failing gas valve.
Humming or Rattling Inducer
The small motor that pulls exhaust out of the furnace wears out with age. A noisy inducer tends to get worse until it stops, and it rarely picks a mild night to do it.
Frozen Condensate Line
High-efficiency furnaces drain water. When that line runs through a cold garage or an exterior wall, it can freeze and shut the furnace down on a safety switch.
Blinking Error Code
The light on the control board is telling you something. We read the code, test the part it points to, and replace the board only if the board is the problem.
Upstairs Stays Cold
Common in three-storey Brooklin builds on one thermostat. Sometimes it is airflow or a dirty filter, sometimes the layout. We tell you which before recommending anything.
Smell gas? Leave the house first, then call 911 and Enbridge at 1-866-763-5427. A carbon monoxide alarm going off is also a 911 call, not a furnace repair call. Once the house is cleared, we can come and find the cause.

You are in East York. Do you really come out to Whitby?
Yes. We serve Whitby from our shop at 885 O'Connor Dr in East York, which is roughly 45 kilometres along the 401. Whitby is inside our regular service area and we book same-day repairs there when the schedule allows. We give you an arrival window when you call instead of a promise we cannot keep in 401 traffic.
Can you come out overnight if my furnace dies in January?
We answer the phone 24/7 and we do not charge extra for nights or weekends. Be aware of the drive, though. If you need someone in the door within the hour at 3 a.m., a company based in Durham may get there first, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than leave you waiting. Call and we will give you an honest time.
Do you cover Brooklin as well as south Whitby?
Both. Brooklin, Taunton North, Williamsburg, Rolling Acres, Pringle Creek, Lynde Creek, Port Whitby and downtown are all the same trip for us. Brooklin adds a few minutes up Highway 12 or the 407, not a different service area.
My Brooklin furnace is about 15 years old. Repair it or replace it?
It depends on what failed. An ignitor, flame sensor or inducer motor on a furnace in otherwise decent shape is usually worth fixing. A cracked heat exchanger, or a third breakdown in two winters, is a different conversation. We tell you which one it is and put both options in writing. If replacement makes more sense, we do a free in-home estimate.
Is there a way to replace the furnace without paying for it all at once?
Yes. As an Enbridge Sustain Trusted Partner we can install a new furnace with $0 down through the Sustain lease-to-own program. Maintenance and repairs are included in the monthly payment, and the furnace is yours once the term ends and the final buyout amount is paid. Standard gas furnaces are not covered by current government rebate programs.
