John Wood ProLine AV
The John Wood ProLine AV is a Canadian-made, 40-gallon atmospheric-vent natural gas tank water heater — the kind of straightforward, serviceable unit that quietly handles a Toronto household's hot water for years. It runs a 40,000 BTU/h burner with a glass-lined tank and a Turbulator dip tube to fight sediment buildup, and the line scales from 30 up to 75 gallons. Megacity HVAC installs and services these across Toronto and the GTA.

John Wood ProLine AV — FAQ
How efficient is the John Wood ProLine AV, and does it qualify for a rebate?
This model is rated at 0.58 UEF (the ProLine line spans 0.58 to 0.66 depending on the unit). It's a standard atmospheric-vent gas tank, not a heat pump, so it is not eligible for Ontario heat-pump rebate programs — those only apply to heat pumps and heat-pump water heaters, and even then the rebate is applied for through a program-registered contractor. If lowering operating cost or qualifying for a rebate matters to you, ask us about a heat-pump water heater instead.
Is a 40-gallon ProLine AV big enough for my house?
For most 2-4 person Toronto homes, the 40-gallon size with its 67-gallon first-hour rating handles normal morning use. If you have a large household, multiple bathrooms running at once, or a big soaker tub, the ProLine line goes up to 75 gallons. We size it to your real usage during the visit rather than guessing.
Can the ProLine AV replace my existing gas water heater directly?
In most cases, yes. It's an atmospheric-vent natural gas unit, so it's designed to vent through an existing chimney or B-vent the way a typical older gas tank does. We confirm your gas supply, venting, and clearances on site, and the install is done to TSSA standards. If your home isn't a good fit for atmospheric venting, we'll tell you and walk through the alternatives.
How long is the warranty and what does it cover?
The ProLine AV carries a 6-year tank and parts warranty. If you want longer coverage, the 8-year ProLine Master version is available. We'll register the warranty for you at install, and because Megacity has been servicing the GTA since 1999, we can handle any warranty work down the road rather than leaving you to chase the manufacturer.
