It's rated to keep heating down to -13°F (-25°C), which covers the large majority of Toronto and GTA winter days. On the coldest snaps, most installs pair it with a backup heat source (your furnace or electric strip heat) so you're never short on heat. We'll size and configure the changeover during the site visit.
What size Ion 23 does my house need?
The Ion 23 comes in 2 to 5 ton sizes. The right one isn't guessed from square footage — we run a heat-loss/heat-gain calculation on your specific home (windows, insulation, layout) so the unit isn't oversized or undersized. Oversizing a heat pump hurts both comfort and efficiency, so the load calc matters.
Is the Ion 23 efficient enough to lower my bills?
It's rated up to 23 SEER2 for cooling and up to 12 HSPF2 for heating, and it's ENERGY STAR qualified. The variable-speed compressor runs at low output most of the time instead of full-blast cycling, which is where day-to-day savings come from.
