Mitsubishi FX (Hyper-Heat)
The Mitsubishi Electric FX (Hyper-Heat) is a ductless mini-split heat pump built for cold Ontario winters — it holds 100% of its rated heat down to -23°C and keeps running to -30°C. For Toronto homes without ductwork, or for rooms your furnace never quite reaches, it handles both heating and cooling from a single wall-mounted indoor head. Megacity HVAC installs it as a single-zone or multi-zone system.

Mitsubishi FX (Hyper-Heat) — FAQ
Will this actually keep my room warm through a Toronto winter?
Yes. The FX Hyper-Heat delivers 100% of its rated heat down to -23°C and continues operating to -30°C, which covers the coldest stretches we see in the GTA. Unlike basic heat pumps that lose most of their output below freezing, this one is engineered specifically for cold-climate heating.
How efficient is it, and what do those numbers mean?
It's rated at 29.9 SEER2 for cooling (33.1 on the 9,000 BTU model) and 12.4 HSPF2 for heating — both strong figures, and it's ENERGY STAR Certified. SEER2 measures cooling efficiency and HSPF2 measures heating efficiency over a season; higher is better on both. In plain terms, it moves a lot of heat per dollar of electricity.
Can it heat or cool more than one room?
The single-zone setup pairs one outdoor unit with one indoor head (the spec'd model is 12,000 BTU/h). Multi-zone configurations are available, letting one outdoor unit feed several indoor heads in different rooms. We'll size it to your space during the in-home visit — capacity needs to match the room, not just the square footage.
Are there rebates, and what's the warranty?
Heat pumps can qualify for current Ontario heat-pump rebates, which must be applied for through a program-registered contractor — ask us and we'll confirm what's available for your project before you commit. The FX carries a 10-year compressor and parts warranty when the unit is registered after install.
