How efficient is the York YXV, and is it worth the premium?
The YXV is rated up to 20 SEER2 and qualifies for ENERGY STAR / Most Efficient. The variable-capacity compressor is the real story — by running at lower speeds most of the season instead of switching fully on and off, it uses less energy on the average day than a single-stage unit. It's a premium system, so it makes the most sense if you run AC a lot through the summer or you specifically want the quietest, most even-cooling option.
What size YXV does my house need?
The YXV comes in 2 to 5 tons. Bigger isn't better with air conditioning — an oversized unit short-cycles, cools unevenly, and removes less humidity. We size it with a load calculation based on your home's square footage, insulation, windows, and layout, not a rule of thumb.
