The Lennox ML196E is a single-stage, 96% AFUE gas furnace from the Merit Series — a high-efficiency upgrade that fits most Toronto homes without the price of a premium model. It runs a Power Saver constant-torque blower for lower electrical draw and comes in five sizes from 44,000 to 132,000 BTU/h, so we can match it to the actual heat load of your house. The ML196E comes in five inputs — 44,000, 66,000, 88,000, 110,000 and 132,000 BTU/h, covering up to 5 tons. The right size depends on your home's heat loss, not just square footage, so we run a load calculation on site. An oversized furnace short-cycles and wastes gas; we size it to your actual house before quoting.
Can the ML196E work with a heat pump?
Yes. The ML196E is dual-fuel capable, so it can pair with a heat pump in a dual-fuel setup — the heat pump handles milder weather and the furnace takes over when it gets cold. If you're considering a heat pump now or later, tell us and we'll plan the install so the two work together. Heat pumps are also where Ontario's Home Renovation Savings rebates apply, applied for through a program-registered contractor; standard gas furnaces like this one are not rebated.
What warranty comes with the ML196E?
