Is the Payne PA5S efficient enough to lower my summer hydro bill?

It's rated up to 16.5 SEER2 and is ENERGY STAR qualified, so it's a clear step up from the 10-13 SEER units common in older Toronto homes. As a single-stage unit it runs at one speed (full on or off), so it won't match the part-load efficiency of a two-stage or variable-speed AC — but for the price, it's a solid, efficient choice. What size PA5S do I need for my Toronto home?

The PA5S comes in 1.5 to 5 tons. Sizing isn't a guess based on square footage — we do a load calculation that accounts for your home's insulation, windows, ductwork, and layout. An oversized unit short-cycles and leaves the air clammy; an undersized one runs constantly on a heat-wave day. We size it properly before recommending a tonnage.

Does the Payne PA5S qualify for an Ontario rebate?

No. Government rebates like the Home Renovation Savings Program apply to heat pumps and heat-pump water heaters, not to standard central air conditioners like the PA5S. If lowering your energy use and qualifying for a rebate is a priority, ask us about a heat pump instead — for those we apply through the program as a registered contractor.

The PA5S carries a 10-year limited parts warranty, but it only applies if the unit is registered after installation — otherwise coverage is shorter. We register it for you when we install, so you get the full term. Labour and annual maintenance are separate; keeping up with yearly service also helps keep the warranty valid and the unit running well through Toronto summers.
