Kepler Vortex 16 — FAQ
How efficient is the Kepler Vortex 16?
It runs at 13.4 SEER2, which is the efficiency rating on the 4AC16L30P model. That meets the current minimum standard for central air conditioners in our region. It's an entry-tier rating, so if you want lower summer cooling bills you'd look at a higher-SEER2 unit, but the Vortex 16 keeps the purchase price down.
What size do I need for my Toronto home?
The Vortex 16 comes in sizes from about 1.5 to 5 tons (18,000 to 60,000 BTU/h). The right size depends on your home's square footage, insulation, windows, and layout, not just on floor area. We do a proper load calculation before recommending a tonnage, since an oversized AC short-cycles and an undersized one runs constantly.
What does the warranty cover?
It's a 10-year limited warranty on the compressor and parts. Coverage typically requires registering the unit after installation. The warranty covers the equipment itself; our installation labour is handled separately, and we'll go over both with you before the job.
Does this AC qualify for a government rebate?
No. Rebates under Ontario's current Home Renovation Savings Program apply to heat pumps and heat-pump water heaters, not to standard central air conditioners like the Vortex 16. If lowering your bills and qualifying for a rebate matters to you, ask us about a heat pump instead, where the rebate is applied for through a program-registered contractor.
